SCANDINAVIAN ART

I find Scandinavian Art profoundly beautiful, perhaps because of the deep history of its people and the rich evolution of their culture. There is a quiet strength and timeless quality in these traditions that continues to draw me in. Creating works inspired by this heritage — particularly the ships — has been a deeply rewarding experience, and I remain grateful for the opportunity to explore and connect more deeply with Scandinavian art.

The most recent works in this section, presented first, are part of a new body of work currently being prepared for an upcoming art show. These pieces are not available for purchase at this time, but will become available once the exhibition date is announced.

Earlier Works

UKRAINIAN ART

Born and raised in Ukraine, I have always been deeply connected to its vibrant culture and rich history. Every element and colour in traditional Ukrainian art carries meaning, telling stories that have been passed down through generations. The works presented here are inspired by this heritage, reflecting the traditions and symbolism that continue to resonate with me personally.

EGYPTIAN ART

Egypt is renowned for its rich history and ancient art — a source of inspiration for countless generations. I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to travel there many times, exploring museums, historic sites such as the Pyramids and the vibrant streets of Old Cairo. The art I have created draws on these experiences, blending the textures, colours, and symbolism of Egyptian history with my own interpretation.

While my works cannot capture every marvel — from the grandeur of its historic sites to the beauty of the Red Sea — they reflect the warmth, hospitality, and enduring cultural richness of Egypt, as well as the vitality and spirit of its people.

INDIAN ART

The concept of the seven chakras originates in ancient Indian traditions and has been studied and interpreted for centuries. I found this system deeply fascinating — both in its original meaning and in the way it continues to be understood and embraced in modern society. I chose to explore the chakras through painting for their rich symbolism, vibrant colours, and the deeper significance each one carries.

BALLERINAS

My fascination with ballet began early, likely the moment I stepped into my first dance class at the age of five. Dance has always been a vital form of expression for me — a way of living, feeling, and communicating beyond words. This deep connection is why I continue to paint ballerinas, drawn to their grace, strength, and quiet beauty.

When painting a ballerina, I reflect on the dedication behind each movement: the discipline, the costume, the atmosphere, and the story the dancer is expressing. Music plays an essential role in this process; classical compositions accompany my work, shaping the rhythm, mood, and flow of the painting as it unfolds.

The following section presents a selection of ballerina works created between 2016 and 2018.

NATURE & ANIMALS ART

Nature has always been a profound source of inspiration for me, offering endless textures, colours, and moods to explore. This section includes landscapes as well as studies of wildlife, capturing birds, majestic animals, and more intimate portrayals drawn from observation and connection.

Many of the works presented here are inspired by photographs by my brother, Vlad Kovalevsky, whose keen eye for the natural world captures moments of quiet beauty and striking detail. Through painting these scenes — whether landscapes or animals — I aim to honour both the richness of nature and the perspective he has shared, translating fleeting moments into timeless artistic expression.

MISCELLANEOUS ART

This section brings together a small collection of works that do not belong to a single theme, yet share a sense of exploration and creative freedom. From abstract patterns to imaginative forms and symbolic objects, these pieces reflect moments of experimentation and curiosity. Each work stands on its own, offering a glimpse into ideas that emerged organically and found their own visual language.

SKETCHES

Sketching plays an important role in nurturing the mind and creative process. As explored in Betty Edwards’ Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, sketching and doodling allow the subconscious to express what words often cannot. A simple pencil, a few lines or circles, and a willingness to explore are sometimes all that is needed to begin telling a story — no perfection required.

This gallery presents a selection of my sketches and doodles, from the earliest pieces I could find to more recent work. Sketching has long been a central part of my creative process, helping me organize ideas while refining fine lines and shading techniques. Many of the earlier works date back to my teenage years, when sketching was a daily practice. The pieces shown here are those that endured over time and felt meaningful enough to preserve.
